After surviving the crisis of the third century, Rome has been split into four parts. Although the crisis has ended, the Roman Empire is still in turmoil. With factions within the empire out at each other's throat vying for power. Many of them would attempt to be the sole ruler the Romans, and wish to be recognized as the rightful Augustus of the Empire. However one of these Augusti professes a new religion. . . Christianity.
