Most servers that call themselves anonymous aren't. They're a normal server with a confession bot bolted on, so your username is still in the member list, your profile is still one click away, and your DMs are still open. The anonymity stops at the message.
This one is built the other way around. There is no shared channel anywhere in it.
Every member gets their own private set of channels that nobody else can see. When you post, your message is deleted and re-sent into everyone else's copy of the room as "Anonymous", with a generated avatar that stays yours until you leave. You see a normal conversation with replies and reactions. What you don't see is a member list, because there isn't one, and there's no way to click a name and find a profile, because there are no names.
That structure is the point. On a confession-bot server, anonymity is a setting someone could turn off. Here it's the shape of the server. There's no channel two people share, so there's nothing to leak across: no typing indicators, no read state, no way to tell who's online.
So what actually happens when nobody knows who you are? People stop performing. There's no profile to maintain, no history anyone can scroll, no reputation to protect or build. Conversations start in the middle instead of with introductions, and they're blunter than the same people would be under their own name. Some of it is people saying things they've been carrying around. Most of it is just talking, at whatever hour, without it being attached to them afterwards.
Some honest limits, because you should know them before joining.
Staff can map a message back to its author. That's needed for moderation, and anyone claiming otherwise is either lying or has no way to deal with abuse. Anonymous to other members is the promise. Anonymous to the operator is not.
Messages can't be edited, only deleted, and it's text and reactions for now with no links or files.
And the room is new. Some hours it's quiet. We'd rather say that than pretend there's a crowd.
Accounts under a month old aren't let in, and joins are reviewed, so it stays small on purpose rather than filling with throwaways.
