In the Northern reaches of Teyvat lies the free-spirited nation of Mondstadt. Its capital, also the nation's namesake, juts out into the surrounding Cider Lake and is surrounded by rolling green plains, scenic cliffsides, and wooded grasslands. Known as the “City of Freedom,” the city of Mondstadt's culture centers on personal liberty, music, and the open enjoyment of life. These are all traditions that are tied to the worship of the Anemo Archon, Barbatos. The city itself is marked by tall stone walls, medieval windmills, and an imposing cathedral overlooking lively plazas where merchants, bards, and travelers gather. Governance and security are largely maintained by the Knights of Favonius, a chivalric order responsible for protecting the region and maintaining order while allowing citizens wide personal autonomy. Surrounded by vineyards, forests, and ancient ruins, Mondstadt functions both as a peaceful mercantile center and as a cultural stronghold where poetry, song, and adventure
