We aim to provide a secure system to the best of our ability where all of our users can verify their age for the safety and peace of mind of our community.
What is the process of age verification in TFB?
We require every user to present an official form of photograph identification with their date of birth (DOB) and photograph visible. The user must hold the ID card up to their face for easy photo comparison as well as a piece of paper with these items written down: (1) The Furry Bonfire, (2) current date, and (3) your personal Discord username/ID number.
What documentation is required for age verification?
Any official documentation is acceptable as long as it has a photo and DOB.
Why do you require a photograph to be visible?
Unfortunately TFB staff have had too many instances where some bad actors have tried to use identification that is not theirs or has been altered to get past our age verification. In 2025, TFB changed their verification rules to require a "selfie" format with the photograph on the ID visible in an effort to reduce these attempts. The photo does not have to be an exact depiction, but must be similar enough for facial verification.
I do not want to provide any ID and/or ID that shows my face.
We completely understand that data privacy is a top priority for most individuals. We are continuously working on more methods for age verification that would satisfy our concerns as a community. Rest assured, our policies dictate that no images during verification are stored and our staff are only looking to verify users' ages as 18+. Think of TFB staffs as bouncers or security at an adult establishment like a bar where a safe, adult environment is the ultimate goal.
