Intellectualist is a community built around deep discussion, covering politics, philosophy, religion, and the big questions that come with them. We're built on the idea that people can disagree passionately without tearing each other down. Ideas get challenged here, not people.
Keeping a large Discord community organized isn't easy, and we won't pretend otherwise. What makes the difference is a moderation team that actually shows up and keeps discussions on track and within our guidelines.
We're often lumped in with other "debate server" communities on Discord, and it's an understandable mix up given how many exist. But that's not quite our identity, we're built around the exchange of ideas first. Debate is just one way we do that, through things like our Debate Club and scheduled debate events, some formal and structured, others loose and conversational, so there's room for however you like to engage.
