Many years ago, Humanity lost their home. A galatic presence, an ever-devouring and insatiable calamity called Chaos laid claim to it and many of the planets Humanity placed their eyes on. Infested with beings of nightmares and fever dreams, Humanity had no choice but to forfeit a majority of their systems and colonies to this hungry enemy...but that does not mean they gave up.
With the help of combatants called Agents which have gained special abilities born from trauma and links to the Chaos, artificially born officers called Protos lead the charge against the forces of despair, ever charting and exploring ways to purify and reclaim what Humanity had lost. This mission is their absolute priority as they vow to return from their refuge amongst the stars in colony ships called Arks.
