Discord Me started in 2015 as a way to promote our personal servers. As other friends wanted to use it, it quickly grew into the Discord server promotion platform it is now. We've been working on it and improving it ever since. We’re doing this because we know how important it is for like-minded people to connect and share ideas and passions. Our core mission is to help people find online communities they love.

Achievement Unlocked: 15,000 Discord Servers

Wow, 15,000 Discord servers! Over a month ago we re-did the website and removed all of our servers. Now 15,000 of you have shown your commitment to Discord Me and joined us on the new website. That is unbelievable and we can’t thank you all enough.

We are putting a lot of work into the new website design. We’ve already increased site speed (88% improvement over last month!), and we want to make it even faster. The blog updates system is helping Discord server owners engage with their audience outside of the server. Plus, we’re always squashing bugs, and trying to improve the user experience.

We thank you again for being a part of Discord Me, and are looking forward to connecting more people with awesome communities.

May 3 Update Notes

Speed

We saw the new Sonic trailer drop. And, uh, it's a thing. I kinda zoned out after Sonic said, 'gotta go fast', and started thinking about Discord Me. Gotta go fast. (To be clear, we officially and unofficially do not endorse the upcoming Sonic movie.)

Shylor came to the same conclusion entirely independent of myself. So we rallied up the team, and got to work.

We're sitting at an 88% improvement with server response time from last month. And we're not finished.

Commitment

For those of you not familiar with the development process, when we program changes, we submit them in small pieces called 'commits'. In April, we submitted 389 commits, because we love you and want to see your Discord servers succeed.

Stats

What kind of update post would this be without progress on the stats system? It's coming along, and we'll likely be releasing it in the next two weeks. When we realized our site's loading speed could make it more difficult for users to find and join servers, we shifted focus. We'll be back on track with advanced stats soon.

Updates

Here's a summary of other bug fixes and improvements up to 1.0.5.3.0:

  • fixed viewing individual posts requiring the user to be logged in
  • fixed styling issues with the bot join protection page for better mobile support
  • restricted max team size to 10 (for adding new members, existing teams unaffected)
  • made server-side changes to improve issues that were affecting stability
  • changed the master slot's color from green to purple
  • added flair to highlight list sorting buttons
  • implemented post requirement for being shown with the random button (you need at least one post, make it exciting, you are talking to future members here)
  • made various caching and data retrieval optimizations to improve site performance
  • cleaned up various instances of invalid frontend code

April 27 Update Notes

First things first, we identified and fixed an issue that had crept up as we worked on the user join flow. For a short period, users were being required to log into Discord Me to join servers- we never intended that and it has been fixed.

Beyond that, this past week we've been working hard on bringing in the new stats system. Our first focus is to show you day-by-day breakdowns of page visits, and joins. With this, you'll have a solid way to measure how successful your Discord servers’ pages are at attracting new members.

Our stats system is wrapping into what will be the new server management panel, which we'll be calling the 'Server Manager'. This is to bring everyone a more comprehensive way post updates, allow for more settings (for example, choosing whether to show online users), and, in the future, managing comments.

Update Notes

Here's the update notes up through the latest version. Keep in mind, this is the live build, and doesn't include work in progress changes. 1.0.4.27.0:

  • patched a vulnerability that could be exploited to increase the likelihood of being the fastest bumper
  • fixed join flow issue that erroneously prompted users to sign into Discord Me
  • upgraded core system Discord Me runs on to the latest version
  • properly tagged server names on their pages to help search engines determine page structure more accurately
  • fixed issue where server suspensions could be circumvented by deleting and re-adding the server
  • updated navigation structure to be more search engine-friendly
  • fixed page titles on server posts
  • updated meta on page posts to improve sharing links where a link preview shows

Discord Asked What Features Users Wanted

Discord recently posted on Twitter asking users for feature suggestions. Unsurprisingly, the thread is full of jokes and memes, but there are some genuine ideas presented here. We'll be discussing some of the legitimate ideas. And then of course highlighting the funniest joke suggestions! Check out the rest over on Discover Discord!

Discord Me Update Notes - Week 4

We’re one month in! Three days ago, we reached 10,000 servers on the new platform. Here are some of our future plans. Patch notes below.

Improved Server Statistics

We promised to improve statistics. We ran into some bumps, but now it's full steam ahead as our top priority. We want to show you page visits and joins over time, and your conversion rates, to give you solid metrics to go off of while working to improve how your server performs.

Server Page Blogging System

Blog posts have their own pages now, for ease of sharing. Also, this paves the way for more improvements (i.e. a commenting system).

Additionally, we stomped out that pesky bug that made editing posts a nightmare.

Online User Counts

We've worked out the kinks, and it's running stable.

Random Server Button

Digging into our analytics, we've seen a lot of users using the random server button. This is awesome, and we want to make sure they have a solid experience. As such, we're adding an eligibility requirement. You will need to have at least one post for your server to show up in random. We'll be implementing this soon.

More Premium Options

We now offer 15, 30, and 90 day options for gold and platinum premium packages.

NSFW Search Terms

A couple of weeks ago, we told you we were going to have searches that include NSFW terms automatically include NSFW. It's live. If you're not-so-innocent, try it out! If you find any terms you think should be included, lettuce snow. Sorry, 'let us know'. That was weird. (Now I'm imagining pieces of lettuce falling from the sky.)

Here are some highlights from this week:

Updates

And now, here’s patch notes (up through 1.0.4.20.0):

  • fixed error message when logging in fails
  • fixed issue with logging in when Discord account doesn't have an email address
  • fixed issue with logging in when more than one Discord account uses the same email address
  • added 15 day and 90 day premium options
  • added ability to view premium options without logging in
  • fixed issue with displaying more than 100 days of remaining premium
  • fixed issue with search terms disappearing from search box
  • fixed issue with language selection not being retained between searches
  • improved NSFW toggle behavior
  • fixed issue where deleting a server would break its old links
  • improved browse page caching to improve loading speed
  • changed random button to only show servers with a green bot status
  • added NSFW search functionality
  • performed various html tweaks to improve search engine optimization
  • added direct post pages
  • fixed issues with editing posts
  • upgraded markdown processor
