# 12th Marine Combat Team
The 12th Marine Combat Team (12th MCT) was established in 2011 as a rapid-deployment unit designed for counter-insurgency and anti-terror operations during the Global War on Terror.
Deployed primarily in Helmand and the Logar provinces, the 12th MCT conducted:
+ Counter-terror and direct combat operations
+ Counter-IED reconnaissance
+ Village security patrols
Operating from forward positions in rural areas, the unit focused on disrupting insurgent networks while maintaining local stability.
By 2014, it had gained a reputation for discipline, operational effectiveness, and strong coordination with partner forces.
Today, it remains a rapid-response force built around adaptability and mission-focused deployment.
